A Twist in the Myth Fuori dal teatro e dentro al labirinto, per un sentiero musicale che non conosce eguali nel metal classico… Dopo due capolavori di perfezione unica come 'Imaginations from the Other Side' e 'Nightfall in Middle Earth', restare su quei livelli avrebbe significato eccedere il genere umano, e una band è pur sempre fatta di uomini. Nel caso dei Blind Guardian dal gusto e dalle qualità divine, certo, ma pur sempre uomini. Ecco allora che 'A Night at the Opera' arrivò a incarnare uno delle ossessioni più antiche dell’uomo: la ricerca dell’onnipotenza. Un’ambizione che nel caso dei Blind Guardian era già stata raggiunta con i due episodi sopra citati e che in 'A Night at the Opera' svanisce anche per il vizio dell’eccesso. Un vizio e non una perversione, perché quei difetti germogliati da un’opulenza sfarzosa non hanno intaccato il valore assoluto di un disco che nella scena di oggi nessuno può nemmeno permettere di pensare. Figuriamoci di scrivere e suonare. 'A Twist in the Myth' non è un ritorno al passato né un cambio di rotta: è semplicemente il proseguo di un discorso musicale intrapreso più di venti anni or sono in una città del Nordrhein-Westfalen. Un componimento arrivato al suo ottavo capitolo, una tappa che mai nessuno si sarebbe aspettato di trovare quando 'Battalions of Fear' inaugurava una delle saghe più incredibili di questa musica. Un capitolo che nessuno si sarebbe aspettato di trovare nemmeno durante quegli anni ’90 in cui i Blind Guardian detonarono definitivamente inaugurando con 'Tales from the Twilight World' una serie ininterrotta di magnifiche sorprese. Il nuovo pargolo del Guardiano Cieco è snodato in undici momenti di sorprendente eclettismo dove la musica dei bardi alemanni muta di volta in volta mantenendo quel minimo denominatore comune che ne conferisce l’esclusiva eccezionalità. Un dado dalle molteplici facce sempre diverse ma sempre e comunque vincenti. |
