(AGI) - Washington, 28 nov. - Il presidente degli Stati Uniti, Barack Obama, ha espresso la speranza che il Congresso trovi entro Natale un'intesa che consenta di scongiurare il 'fiscal cliff', un macigno da 600 miliardi di dollari tra tagli alla spesa automatici e aumenti delle tasse che rischia di abbattersi sull'economia americana se Democratici e Repubblicani non troveranno un compromesso. "Il nostro obiettivo finale e' un accordo che ponga il nostro deficit sotto controllo nel lungo periodo in modo equo e bilanciato", ha dichiarato Obama dalla Casa Bianca. "Sono convinto che entrambi i partiti possano accordarsi su un piano che consenta cio' nelle prossime settimane. Di fatto il mio auspicio e' che si concluda prima di Natale" .
