Citt del Vaticano (Vaticano), 20 giu. (LaPresse/AP) - Stop immediato alle violenze contro i cristiani in Nigeria. E' l'appello di papa Benedetto XVI in seguito ai nuovi attentati contro le chiese che hanno sconvolto il Paese africano. Domenica almeno 21 persone sono morte in seguito ai due attentati suicidi che sono stati in seguito rivendicati dalla setta radicale islamica Boko Haram. La stessa si è resa responsabile di un altro attentato ieri nel quale hanno perso la vita 25 persone. Papa Benedetto XVI, al termine dell'udienza generale in Vaticano, ha chiesto ai responsabili della violenza di "fermare questo spargimento di sangue di così tante persone innocenti" e ha esortato la societ nigeriana a "non perseguire la via della vendetta". Ha infine invitato i nigeriani a costruire una societ nella quale "il diritto di professare la propria fede sia assolutamente garantito".
