The first, NBA 2K Online

This is the third Asia-specific MMOG project on 2K's slate. The first, NBA 2K Online, was originally announced in 2009 and targeted at China and Korea. The second, an untitled online baseball simulation, was announced last month and is intended for the Korean market.

No release date was given for the 2K-XLGames collaboration, though Song did say he had been working on the project with the publisher for a year. As for what franchise the game would be based on, the 2K stable of candidates includes series like BioShock, Borderlands, Civilization, Mafia, Max Payne, and X-Com.

XLGames was founded by Jake Song, original designer of the Korean MMOG hit Lineage. While the North American version of Song's massively successful online world is coming to an end next month, he has a pair of new projects in the pipeline. XLGames' first massively multiplayer online role-playing game ArcheAge has been going through closed beta testing since last year.
