INDIANAPOLIS – The San Diego Chargers returned two Peyton Manning interceptions for touchdowns and lead the Indianapolis Colts 26-14 at the end of the third quarter Sunday night.

Kevin Burnett returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, and Eric Weddle returned one 41 yards for a score in the third quarter.

Manning passed for 244 yards and two touchdowns through three quarters, but San Diego scored 17 points off his three interceptions.

San Diego gained just 229 yards through three quarters. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who entered the game leading the AFC in yards passing, was held to 149.

San Diego reached the Indianapolis 1-yard line on its first drive of the second half, but Eric Foster sacked Rivers on third-and-goal.

Nate Kaeding made his fourth field goal, a 30-yarder, to increase San Diego's lead to 19-14.

Weddle returned Manning's third interception of the game 41 yards for a touchdown to push the lead to 26-14 with 8:21 left in the third quarter. The crowd booed because Weddle grabbed Reggie Wayne and pulled him to the ground before making the play.

The Colts took the game's opening possession 78 yards for a score. Manning connected with Jacob Tamme for a 4-yard touchdown pass to give the Colts a 7-0 lead.

San Diego tried to answer, but Rivers overthrew Malcom Floyd in the end zone on a third-and-2 at the Indianapolis 10, and the Chargers settled for a 28-yard field goal by Kaeding to cut the Colts' lead to 7-3 with 3:22 remaining in the quarter.

On Indy's next possession, Manning looked for Wayne, but instead found Burnett. The San Diego linebacker returned the interception 29 yards for a touchdown to give the Chargers a 10-7 lead late in the first quarter.

Manning threw another interception early in the second quarter, this time to linebacker Stephen Cooper.

The Chargers turned it into a 33-yard field goal by Kaeding to expand the lead to 13-7. Kaeding added a 50-yarder with 4:39 left in the half to make it 16-7.

The Colts got back into the game with their two-minute offense. Manning threw a 35-yard completion to Tamme and a 30-yarder to Pierre Garcon that took Indianapolis to the San Diego 5-yard line.

Two plays later, Manning connected with Blair White for a 6-yard touchdown pass that cut San Diego's lead to 16-14 with 22 seconds left in the half.

San Diego receiver Vincent Jackson suffered a calf injury in the first quarter and will not return. He did not have a catch before the injury. He was playing for the first time this season after a holdout.

D.C. Douglas, voice over, film and TV actor, was tapped for tag announcing duties on Radio Shack’s “Holiday Hero” television campaign.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 19, 2010

, voice over, film and TV actor, was tapped for tag announcing duties on Radio Shack’s “Holiday Hero” television campaign. The spots feature everyday folks handing gifts to loved ones only to be suddenly transformed into unique Holiday Heroes. Then Mr. Douglas chimes in with his heroic voice over tag. “I love these spots,” says Mr. Douglas, “they’re funny and fantastical with a huge wink in the eye.Plus, vocally, I get to revel in announcer cheese.”

The campaign comes at the end of a very productive year for Mr. Douglas, both as an actor and voice over artist. In January, Mr. Douglas guest starred on CBS’ “Criminal Minds” as a grieving father. That was followed by the release of an Electronic Arts blockbuster video game, “Mass Effect 2,” featuring Mr. Douglas as the popular Legion. He was kept busy on camera in March with a series of comedic commercials for Gesa Credit Union as a rude, selfish businessman named Big Bank. Work in front of the camera continued in April as he played the captain of a doomed ship in the Asylum cult film, “Titanic II." In May, Mr. Douglas’ film short, “The Crooked Eye,” starring Academy Award winner Linda Hunt, was picked up by IndiePix and Shorts International. Behind the microphone, he also voiced several videos for MediaMatters.org throughout the year.

As for video games, Mr. Douglas voiced characters for six titles that will be released in 2011.An NDA prevents him from naming many of them. “But I can tell you that I'm in ‘MotorStorm: Apocalypse’ and I play numerous small roles in ‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.’The others, however, have to remain a mystery because of some very antsy lawyers somewhere!”

Mr. Douglas recently moved over to AVO Talent (310-360-7680) for voice over. The House Of Representatives (310-451-2345) handles him for film and TV.

All projects and videos mentioned in this press release can be found on D.C. Douglas’website and .

Israel says in talks on more F-35 fighter jets

Post n°9 pubblicato il 18 Novembre 2010 da quyraf

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Israel is in talks with the United States to acquire an additional 20 Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighter jets, a senior Israeli defense official said on Wednesday.

Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi said Israel would welcome another 20 fighter jets on the heels of a deal signed in October to buy about 20 of the radar-evading jets at a cost of about $96 million per aircraft.

"As I understand -- and that's the latest information I have on this issue -- it's still under negotiation between the Israeli government and the administration," he said, speaking at a news conference alongside Admiral Mike Mullen, the top U.S. military officer.

"I don't know the final decision," Ashkenazi said.

Some media had reported the Obama administration offered the additional jets to Israel in exchange for a three-month freeze on construction of new settlements, a key issue in efforts to broker Israeli-Palestinian peace.

Israel signaled on Tuesday it had delayed approving U.S. proposals for a freeze on West Bank settlement building so that peace talks can resume, saying it wanted the ideas in writing.

Israeli sources said the proposals, made verbally during a meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York last week, included an F-35 offer worth $3 billion and pledges of enhanced U.S. diplomatic support at the United Nations.

Israel has said the first batch of jets, to be received from 2015 through 2017, would boost the country's ability to defend itself against any Middle Eastern threat.

Feds holding firm on intrusive airport security

Post n°8 pubblicato il 18 Novembre 2010 da quyraf

Tag: alba

WASHINGTON – Despite a deluge of complaints over intrusive pat-downs and revealing airport scans, the government is betting Americans would rather fly safe than untouched. "I'm not going to change those policies," the nation's transportation security chief declared Wednesday.

Responded a lawmaker: "I wouldn't want my wife to be touched in the way that these folks are being touched."

The debate over where to strike the balance between privacy and security, in motion since new safety measures took effect after the 2001 terrorist attacks, has intensified with the debut of pat-downs that are more thorough, and invasive, than before, and the spread of full-body image scans.

A week before some of the busiest flying days of the year, some passengers are refusing the regimen, many more are complaining and the aviation industry is caught in the middle.

In Florida, the Orlando Sanford Airport, which handles 2 million passengers a year, now plans to replace "testy" Transportation Security Administration screeners with private contractors, and two veteran commercial pilots are refusing to fly out of airports using the procedures.

"The outcry is huge," Texas Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison told the TSA administrator, John Pistole, at a Capitol Hill hearing. "I know that you're aware of it. But we've got to see some action."

Pistole conceded "reasonable people can disagree" on how to properly balance safety at the nation's airports but he asserted the new security measures are necessary because of intelligence on latest attack methods that might be used by terrorists.

Pistole was a senior FBI officer last Christmas when an al-Qaida operative made it onto a Chicago-bound plane with explosives stuffed in his underwear. The explosive misfired, causing injury only to the wearer.

As TSA chief since the summer, Pistole has reviewed reports that found undercover agents were able to slip through airport security because pat-downs were not thorough enough.

Given a choice between a planeload of screened passengers and a flight with no lines or security checks, he told senators, "I think everybody will want to opt for the screening with the assurance that that flight is safe and secure."

The new hands-on searches are used for passengers who don't want the full-body scans, or when something suspicious shows in screening, or on rare occasions, randomly. They can take two minutes per passenger and involve sliding of the hands along the length of the body, along thighs and near the groin and breasts.

The new scans show naked images of the passenger's body, without the face, to a screener who is in a different location and does not know the identity of the traveler. The U.S. has nearly 400 of the advanced imaging machines deployed at 70 airports, growing to 1,000 machines next year.

A traveler in San Diego who resisted both a full-body scan and a pat-down helped fuel a campaign urging others to refuse these searches on Nov. 24, the heavy travel day before Thanksgiving. John Tyner said he told a TSA screener: "If you touch my junk, I'm gonna have you arrested."

Pistole has strongly criticized the call to boycott screenings.

"On the eve of a major national holiday and less than one year after al-Qaida's failed attack last Christmas Day, it is irresponsible for a group to suggest travelers opt out of the very screening that may prevent an attack using nonmetallic explosives," he said this week.

Tyner's encounter with security in San Diego helped make the new system the butt of late-night TV jokes. But lawmakers aren't laughing. They said they are getting hundreds of calls from people unhappy with the procedures.

"I'm frankly bothered by the level of these pat-downs," Sen. George LeMieux, R-Fla., told Pistole. "I wouldn't want my wife to be touched in the way that these folks are being touched. I wouldn't want to be touched that way."

Pistole, who has been subjected to a pat-down himself, allowed: "It is clearly more invasive." But the procedures are necessary, he said, to detect devices not seen before.

Glen Tilton, chairman of United Continental Holdings Inc., the parent company of United and Continental airlines, said it's obvious passengers are upset but their security "is really the predominant interest."

"I am personally aware of customer frustration because I'm getting e-mails to that effect," Tilton told reporters at an Aero Club luncheon in Washington. "Clearly a number of people have put together an effort to make sure that we are aware of how they feel about it."

Still, he said airline operations had not been affected by passenger cancellations to date and he praised the TSA's screeners. "We know how difficult their job is," he said.
