Women’s basketball Jihyun Shin trades to Shinhan Bank a day after transferring to BNK

We don’t have enough salary cap. It’s used as a trade card

Jihyun Shin, the representative female professional basketball player, moved to Shinhan Bank in Incheon just a day after moving to BNK in Busan.

The Korea Women’s Basketball League (WKBL) said on the 25th, “Shinhan Bank and BNK have made a trade between the clubs,” adding, “Shinhan Bank has agreed to trade with Jihyun Shin, which has been named Jinan’s compensation player by BNK, to receive priority rights in the first round of the WKBL New Player Selection in the 2024-2024 season, and to give up Byun So-jeong and Park Sung-jin.”

Earlier, Hana OneQ recruited Jinan, who became an FA from BNK.

Compensation arises from the recruitment of FA, but Hana OneQ did not include Jihyun Shin in the four protected players. As the ransom of the main players increased, the salary cap became inevitably unable to catch the Jihyun Shin.

In response, BNK chose Jihyun Shin as Jinan’s compensation player.

BNK was also planning to use Jihyun Shin as a trade card. This is because he had no room for salary cap as he caught Ahn Hye-ji to recruit Park Hye-jin and Kim Sonia.

Jihyun Shin is a national guard resource with leading and scoring skills, averaging 12.1 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in 29 regular league games last season.

BNK brought back Park Sung-jin, who sent to Shinhan Bank as Sonia’s compensation player, with Byun So-jeong included in the trade.
