Argentine legend Sergio Aguero (36) suffered an unexpected injury in his return to the ground.
Aguero stood in front of fans at a charity match marking the 120th anniversary of the foundation of Argentine club Independiente on Monday. It has been more than two years since he announced his retirement in 2021 with tears due to heart disease. However, Aguero only had 11 minutes to play. While dribbling fast into the penalty box, his opponent pushed him slightly, which caused him to lose balance and dislocate his left shoulder. Aguero was replaced with a bright smile while holding onto the injured shoulder.
Whether Aguero will play on the day has received keen attention in Argentina. Rumors of his return to the pro baseball league have been circulating steadily since last month. Aguero, who has been active in various fields including broadcasting since his retirement, rejected rumors but did not hide his aspiration to return to the ground. In an interview with Argentine media outlet TNT Sports, he said, “I had good results two days ago. I don’t know my future, but I am full of excitement and aspiration for my return. But I don’t want to make people excited.” Aguero said he will participate in competitions to be held in Madrid, Mexico and the U.S.
Aguero is a famed pullback. He spent his prime time with Manchester City after playing for the Independiente and Atletico Madrid. He played in 390 matches and scored 260 goals. He was the top scorer in the 2014-2015 season of the Premier League. He has won five Premier League trophies. He moved to Barcelona in 2021, but had to retire due to heart problems with only one goal left in five matches. Aguero won the U-20 World Cup in 2005 and 2007 as an Argentine national team player, and collaborated with his best friend Lionel Messi of Inter Miami to win a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He scored 41 goals in 101 matches for Argentina’s A team. Due to his retirement, he could not afford to miss the 2022 Qatar World Cup championship. 스포츠토토
