Professional baseball KIA Tigers new foreign pitchers Will Crow and James Nail made their first live pitching of spring camp.
KIA said on the 17th, “Crow and Nail made their first live pitching during spring camp training held at Narrabunda Ball Park in Canberra, Australia.”
Crow threw 33 balls using a mix of four-seamers, two-seamers, sliders, curveballs, changeups, and sweepers.

KIA said, “Both Crow and Nail completed a total of 25 pitches with a maximum speed of 148 km/h.
“Both players recorded a maximum speed of 148 km/h,”
Crow said, “I am satisfied that they threw well as prepared.
“I focused on the pitching rhythm and release point for each pitch on the mound,” he said.
“I am currently improving my condition step by step.”
I will prepare well to maintain the best condition for the opening of the season, he said.
Will Crow, who debuted in the American professional baseball major league in the 2020 season, played a total of 94 games (29 as a starter) wearing the uniform of the Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates for four seasons.
He had 10 wins, 21 losses, 16 holds, 5 saves, and an ERA of 5.30.
In the 2021 season, he took over the Pittsburgh rotation and started 25 games, leaving a record of 4 wins, 8 losses, and an ERA of 5.48.
In the 2023 season, he appeared in relief in 5 games and pitched 9⅔ innings, recording an ERA of 4.66.
His career minor league records are 21 wins, 16 losses, 1 hold, 75 games (59 starts) over 5 seasons, and an ERA of 4.01.
Nail said, “It was my first pitch against a batter this year, so I threw it with concentration.
I threw it paying attention to control of fast balls and breaking balls, and all pitches went well into the strike zone, so it was a satisfactory pitch overall.”
“I plan to increase my stamina even more,” he said.
Nail pitched in a total of 17 games in the major leagues, leaving with no wins or losses, one hold, and an ERA of 7.40.
In Triple A, he appeared in 155 games (35 as a starter) and recorded 27 wins, 17 losses, 3 saves, 20 holds, and an ERA of 4.15.
Both Crow and James Nail are key resources responsible for KIA’s mound in the 2024 season.
Pitching coach Jeong Jae-hoon, who watched the live pitching, said, “In today’s pitching, we checked pitches in various situations, including set positions.
Both players are steadily improving their physical condition,” and added, “If they handle the camp schedule well as they are now, they will enter the season in good condition. “I expected it.”
