Resolving Canon printer speed issues

Check your Canon printer’s wired connection

The Canon printer works seamlessly on a wired connection. If your printer is connected using a cable; it can print with a good speed. But if your printer is lagging then you should check for the cable. You should only use the cable that you get with your printer. Sometimes, users connect the printer with a low-speed cable. It will reduce the printing speed. If your original printer cable is damaged then purchase a new high-speed cable for your printer. Connect the printer to the PC and now check the speed. Sometimes, speed issues can also occur due to the USB port. Connect the printer to a high-speed port for better speed.

Inspect your wireless connection

Your printer speed will reduce when you connect the printer wirelessly. If the printer is connected to the PC via direct connection then reconnect it. Go to the printer and restart the Wi-Fi button. Now go to the PC and open the Devices folder. Click on Printers & Scanners and hit the Add a Device button. Now wait until your Canon printer appears on the list. Select the printer and hit the Connect button. After connecting, check the printer speed. If the speed is still poor then place the printer near to the PC.

For a network connection, check the Wi-Fi speed. If the speed is poor then connect your devices to a smooth internet connection.

Reset the Canon printer

Sometimes, you can get printer speed issues when you make some changes to the print settings. To resolve the print speed issues, you should undo those changes. Click on Settings and revert the recent changes. If you can’t reset the changes to the inbuilt one then reset the printer. How do I reset my Canon printer to factory settings? Go to the Canon printer Menu and look for settings. Now hit the Reset option and select Reset All. Click on Confirm and your Canon printer will reset. Now you need to configure the printer to PC again. After configuring the printer, take a printout and check for the printing speed.

Update the printer driver

Your printer driver can also cause speed issues. Canon printers need a driver to communicate with the PC. If the printer driver is not working correctly, you may get various errors. To resolve the printer speed issues, check the driver. Go to your connected PC and open the driver folder. Now tap on your Canon printer driver and select the Update option. The new update will be installed on your device. Restart the device to apply new updates on the printer driver. Now send a new print command and take your printouts at a good speed.

Change the printing mode

Your Brother has three modes; High, Normal, and Low. When you use the printer in High speed it takes more ink and time to print. This mode is mainly used to print bright images and photographs. For simple documents, you can use the normal mode. This mode has better speed than the High mode. But if you are still facing speed issues then switch to Low mode. This mode takes less amount of ink for printing. Using this mode for taking printouts of bright images is not recommended. But if you need printouts of simple documents then you can use Low mode. It will print your documents at a very good speed. Whenever you need good quality printouts, you can easily switch to Normal or High mode anytime.
