These printers are easy to configure and use. Now you can also use your printer wirelessly. If you have multiple devices then you can easily share your printer using a shared network. These printers are very reliable and robust. But sometimes, your printer may show some errors. You can fix many printer errors by resetting them.
How to reset Canon Pixma printer?
When any error appears due to any invalid changes on printer settings then resettings the printer is the best option. When you reset a print, all jobs and other memory on the device will be removed. If you are only facing network-related issues then you can go for a soft reset.
- Go to your Canon printer
- Press the Control Panel button
- Use the arrow keys and select the Reset option
- Tap on SOFT RESET
- Press Confirm button
Your printer will be reset. Now go to your printer and check for errors. If your printer is still showing the same errors then you can try a hard reset.
- Open your printer and press the Control button
- Use the arrow key and select the Reset option
- Tap on the Reset option
- Press the arrow keys and select Soft Reset
- Now hold the OK button until the Hard Reset message appears
- Hold the button for about 3 seconds
- Your printer will be hard reset
After a hard reset, your printer settings will be reverted to default. Now you have to reconfigure the printer to your PC or network. You should hard reset the printer only when you know the printer configuration.
Steps to power reset the printer
In some printers, you can easily reset your printer settings with a power reset. This method is very helpful when some printer services are not working. When the user sends a new command while the printer is busy, it may start showing errors. Some printer services can’t read the new command and get stuck. To start those services, you have to power reset the printer.
- Shut down your printer
- Disconnect the power cord and wait for about 30 seconds
- Reconnect the printer
- Now turn on the printer; press the power button and resume button together and hold until the attention light appears
Release the Resume button and now your printer will get reset. After resetting the printer, all your printer services will start working correctly.
Reset the printer using the Device settings option
In some printers, you don’t have a menu setting. On these printers, you can reset by using the settings.
- Go to your printer and look for the setup button
- Go to Device Settings
- Use the arrow keys and choose Reset settings
- Choose Reset all
- Hit the Yes button
- Tap on the OK button
Your printer will be reset in a few seconds. After resetting the printer, reconnect it to the PC and start taking your printouts.
Reset using the power button
Certain printer models have different reset settings. You can reset those printers using the power button.
- Go to the printer remove the lid
- Now press the power button 7 times
- A green light will start flashing
Wait until the green light stops flashing. After resetting the printer, put back the lid, and now your printer will be reset.
Reset the printer using System Administration
You can use the system administration option to reset the printer. But this feature is not available on all devices. You have to check for this feature on your device.
- Go to your printer and press the Home button
- Hit on the Setup button
- Select System Administration
- Now enter the password
- Navigate to Restore Default Settings
- Tap on Clear All Data and Settings
- Hit the Yes button
Now, wait until your printer settings get restored. Reconnect the printer and now take your printouts.
Reset the password of your printer
When you have added your printer to a shared network; you need a good password. Whenever a device wants to connect to your printer; it requires a password. This feature is very helpful to keep your printer secure. Nobody can access your printer without the correct credentials. But sometimes, the user forgets the password. If you want to use the printer but forget the password then reset it.
- Go to your printer and press the Home button
- Tap on the Right arrow
- Hit on the Setup menu and choose Network
- Scroll down and tap on Restore Network Defaults
- Tap on the Yes button
- Your printer’s settings will start restoring
- After restoring the settings, go to your PC
- Open the Control Panel
- Tap on Devices and Printers
- You will see a list of devices
- Select your printer
Go to Properties
- Tap on the Password icon
- Enter a new password
- Tap on the Save Changes button
After changing the password of your printer, you can easily use your new password to access the printer.
Reconnect the printer to the PC after reset
Some users reported that they are unable to use the printer after resetting it. This problem mainly appears in wireless settings. After a hard reset, you have to reconfigure your printer.
- Go to your router and restart the WPS button
- On the printer, press the Wi-Fi button
- Your printer will start searching for the network
- Go to the printer screen and check for available networks
- Select the correct network and tap on the OK button
- Enter the password and you will get Connected status
After connecting the printer, you should take a test printout.
Check for the installed printer driver
After reconfiguring the printer, if you are still facing errors then check for the printer driver. Your printer will only receive commands if you have the correct printer driver. This driver is like a connection bridge. Without this driver, your printer won’t work. On your PC, open the driver’s folder and check for your printer driver. If you don’t have a printer driver then install it. Check the printer model name and number and then install the driver. If you already have a printer driver then you should check for new updates.
