(ASCA) - Citta' del Vaticano, 10 gen - ''La crisi e' continua da quando siamo diventati una minoranza, cioe' dalla creazione dello Stato d'Israele. E in quanto minoranza abbiamo problemi che minacciano l'esistenza stessa dei palestinesi cristiani e la loro presenza in Terra Santa''. Lo ha detto l'arcivescovo greco-melkita, Elias Chacour, in un'intervista a Radio Vaticana. ''Abbiamo le nostre scuole cristiane in Israele - spiega mons. Chacour - Il Ministero dell'Istruzione versa i sussidi per i bambini di qualsiasi scuola, ma e' stata fatta un'eccezione per le scuole cristiane. Non solo ci danno meno della meta' dei sussidi, ma continuano a ridurli sempre piu'. Rischiamo, quindi, di chiudere le nostre scuole. E le nostre scuole non sono semplicemente 'scuole': sono luoghi dove cristiani, musulmani, drusi e ragazzi di altri confessioni imparano a vivere insieme. Questo potrebbe non essere piu' possibile e ci addolora molto''. ''I Luoghi Santi - conclude mons. Chacour - sono estremamente importanti e sono grato per tutti quei cristiani che se ne prendono cura. Ma e' giunto il momento di chiedersi quale possa essere il significato dei Luoghi Santi se non ci sono piu' cristiani. Qual e' l'importanza delle pietre sante di questa terra se non ci sono piu' pietre vive?''.
