CISTERNINO - Debutto incoraggiante per la nazionale italiana di coach Andrea Capobianco che supera dopo un finale avvincente la coriacea formazione iraniana con il risultato di 78-71. Partita giocata a viso aperto da entrambe le squadre, che hanno dato vita a un incontro agonisticamente valido, con buona intensità e trame di gioco valide. L’Italia ha confermato il buono stato di salute visto nell’amichevole disputata a Taranto, dove sono brillate le individualità del pivot Reyer Venezia, Francesco Candussi, autore di 19 punti, Mirco Turel (14) e Simone Fontecchio (17). Primo quarto in perfetto equilibrio (19-15), nel secondo l’Iran prova a scappare con tre triple di Mashayekhi e i canestri di Foroutan, ma è brava la nazionale a rispondere con Candussi e l’intraprendenza di Fontecchio, bravo ad attaccare il perimetro, apparso tra i più attivi nella selezione azzurra. Si va all’intervallo sul 41-38 per gli iraniani. L’Italia non riesce a sbloccarsi dalla lunga distanza, complice un 1/13 dove il pallone sembra coalizzarsi contro gli azzurri. Scocca l’ora anche del pugliese Tommy Laquintana, monopolitano doc, che dopo aver retto l’emozione iniziale, dimostra di essere utile alla causa azzurra con la sua velocità e le sue penetrazioni che aprono varchi interessanti ai suoi compagni, mandando 3 volte a canestro Turel e compagni. Coach Capobianco voleva delle risposte importanti dai suoi ragazzi, che hanno risposto in maniera positiva all’appello del coach, Bianchi, Candussi, Turel, Imbrò, Fontecchio sono le colonne portanti su cui si basa questa nazionale, che con i test probanti del Memorial Todisco vuole prepararsi al meglio per l’Europeo in programma dal 9 al 19 Agosto tra Lituania e Lettonia.
