Western Kentucky University center Japeth Aguilar and Dustin Coloso, who played with distinction for Kean University in the New Jersey Athletic Conference some years ago, are eager to suit up for the Harbour Center team that will represent the Philippines in this years Jones Cup in Taipei.
Abe King, chairman of the PBA Legends USA Foundation, told Viva Sports that Aguilar, the 610” son of former PBA player Peter Aguilar, is available but his coach was “checking with the NCAA on the rules and regulations.”
King said Aguilar, who moves well for a big man, and Coloso, who is a talented shooting guard, were being eyed by Mikee Romero of the multi-titled Harbour Center squad. Coloso is the son of former PBA player Tim Coloso.
Aguilar played just three games in the 2007-2008 season for the WKU Hilltoppers scoring a total of 8 points, pulling down 10 rebounds, issuing 3 assists, pulling off 3 steals and blocking 4 shots.
There were unconfirmed reports that he saw little action because of an injury.
King said the 27-year-old Coloso, who is around 63”, would be “an asset to any team” and besides being a good shooter, he can also defend “taller and heftier opponents.”
King said, “I truly believe he deserves to play in the PBA. This kid made it the hard way with no padrinos. All he had was the determination to make it to the US NCAA.”
