If you are saving money for a "trip of your dreams" to Peru this year .... BE VERY CAREFUL with these points. It is good that you beging to preparing psychologically for this trip.

1.-If you will going out of Lima, it is better to buy airplane tickets to go to each city selected for your holiday or prepare to spend hours and hours and hours by bus and if the seller bus tickets says that your bus trip lenght  its 4 hours will be 7, if says 7 will be 11, if says 12 will be almost 24 hours!!. They never say the truth. Peruvians have only ONE main road

2.- basically the nice or pretty places in Peru are: Lima (not all, just down town "plaza de armas", Miraflores, Barranco, San Isidro, and some little places) Arequipa (down town too) Cuzco (almost all there) Puno (down town if you visit the Titikaka lake). Machu Picchu is a separate point.

3.- And there is the place you desire to know!!! one of the new 7 wonders of the word!!! that makes it has quoted as much more than it deserves. To go to this archeological site, you should take the train exclusively for tourists, which suggests to Peruvians that all we have the economic capacity as Swiss tourists and steal us with the prices. the train ride of 20 miles more or less and entrance to Machu Picchu for foreigners is around of $150 dollars but this is an economic version you can take this train with more luxory before the prices up... because I was informed since 2011 they would rise the price of admission for being one of the 7 new wonders and 100 years of discovery. For Peruvians is logical to use these opportunities because they don't have many things to have income in their country but is an excess (there are many museums or archeological sites in the word and no one is too expencive and them are more interesting). And another small detail: try also be among the firts 400 persons to enter to Machu picchu or you stay out because it is the daily limit of people, this is something that nobody tell when you buy the ticket.

4.- Be careful in the bohemian bars touristics and psychedelics of Cuzco as there are some persons with rastafarian-bohemian appearance pretending to be friendly, helpful and kind, who somehow intoxicated tourists to steal them. take precautions when they come to hold hands or try to dance if you are woman, be careful with the drinks try to see how preparing them.

5.- there are restaurants with good and typical peruvian food but if you don't want surprises ask for extra charges because the account at the end increases: the music, services, cover, place, and even snack or bread of courtesy that they offer  has a price, etc. Do not eat badly you can try: ceviche, "causa peruana" (or causa limeña), aji de gallina, arroz  chaufa (chinese rice stile), the food from supermarket "vivanda" is very good!...And you can not let The pisco sour. Very recommended caffeterias in Arequipa with many kind of cakes and pies (look for the caffeteria "el capricho" in Arequipa).

6.- if your customs are very conservative or old-fashioned don't be scared on Friday and saturday's nights, don't think that is the free day of all "table-dancer girls"  of Lima...its just the style of dress of girls and women from Lima for party. But there is no doubt if you use perfume and comb your hair you can get fun with a woman (the price: only a drink or a good dinner)

7.- don't miss the    markets. In every city there is one.

8.- Ica has nothing to offer, If you plan is not to visit the Nazca lines, don't go to Nazca because has nothing to offer, but if you go accidentally, there are some typical restaurants with good food in the bolognesi street and another interesting place is "La pisqueria Garcia" near to the square.

9.- search for the best options on buses for long journeys, don't forget pay for the use the bus station with time before boarding the bus. In bus stations take care with the criminals and thiefs. One good tip is: make a photocopy of your passport and use it where required for tickets and hotels, don't use the original they can lose your passport.

10.- Peru has in generally peaceful atmosphere. Taking to account some of these points you can enjoy a wonderful trip in Peru...
