Omaha, 26 giu. - (Adnkronos/Dpa) - Il campione del mondo Ryan Lochte ha battuto il connazionale Michael Phelps, primatista mondiale, nella prova dei 400 metri misti ai Trials statunitensi, prova valida per le qualifiche ai Giochi Olimpici di Londra che cominciano il 27 luglio. Lochte, 27 anni, ha fermato il cronometro a 4:07,96, mentre Phelps, e' giunto con 83 centesimi di ritardo. Il terzo posto e' andato a Tyler Clary (4:09,92). Nelle batterie Lochte (4:10,66) aveva fatto registrare il miglior tempo mentre Phelps (4:14,72) e Clary (4:15,88) erano apparsi in ritardo. Sia Lochte che Phelps si sono qualificati per l'appuntamento olimpico nella capitale britannica. Vincitore di sei medaglie nel Mondiale dell'anno scorso, Lochte e' iscritto in 11 prove ad Omaha, mentre Phelps, vincitore di otto titoli ai Giochi Olimpici di Pechino, partecipa a sette gare in questi Trials.
