“The Age of Reason and Change”

Last year we celebrated the birth of a new event Kostia in Pälkäne, Finland.

It was received with open arms and turned out to be a huge success.

This year Kostia travels deeper into the 18^th century in Finland and Europe. This century saw the development of the philosopher movement and political and economic theories that would dramatically change the face of European society. Europe itself changed from a household economy to an industrial economy. This change, perhaps one of the most earth-shattering transitions in human history, permanently altered the face of European society and the family.

In Finland the 18th century began badly as the nation had just suffered some hardships due to crop failures. The Great Nordic War caused further economical suffering in Pälkäne and claimed large numbers of manpower for the war efforts.

The aftermath of the War and the Russian occupation in Finland, so called the

Great Hate (1714-1721) prolonged the sufferings of the nation further.
Kostia 2005 event will take us back to those years of change and tragedy, when it took some exceptional perseverance and courage for a nation to survive. It will also celebrate the achievements of the era as well as pay homage to the endurance of the country people in the area; without their courage and vision many things wouldn’t be the same today.

In conjunction with Kostia 2005 we would like to invite you to participate in an International Mail Art Exhibition in celebrating those times of “reason and change” and express your innermost thoughts of this exceptional time in Europe.

Mandala Mail Art Call

Deadline: June 30, 2005

No fees, no returns,

documentation to all.

Make a mandala (preferably round and no larger than 4,5 inc diameter (approx. 114 mm)

using any style or medium and send it to me with or without envelope.

If you like altering CDs, this would be a great show for that.

The  documentation will come in some kind of CD case.

In Milan, like in other town (Paris, Rome), every year dedicates a day “to living the night”. But every day of the year happy hours, meetings, encounters characterize the evening of the citizen in Milan, in Italy, all over the World. Therefore I have thought launch this “ mail-art project” on “happy hour and like your city live ones” in order to receive your interpretation and know your habitis. Format is free, preferred post-card. Deadline june 2005, the 5. Works must be sended to:

All the reached works will be exposed june 2005, 18 in occasion of the “milan White night”. (Pino Fasulo, Italy – 2005, march)

APHYSICAL BOOK – WHAT ‘S AN ARTIST’S BOOK?
Is a virtual book a book? A child would ask. What happens when a new web-based society creates a new kind of book, a digital book? Do we lose a book’s warmth, it’s tactile qualities and smell, but it allow in the democratisation of a more free and public culture? What would an “aphysical” book look like and whats forms can it take? This is the challenge that we propose.
We send to all artists a reproduction of an artist book containing the works received by all the participants.
Size postal format (10*15 cms) is the better, any work larger than DIN A4 (21*29 cms) will not be admitted. You can also send your works in digital to e-mail santi_cabezuelo@yahoo.es (max 300 ppp) under the subject Book Afísico/ Aphysical book until 2005 15 may

The Path of Peace 

A Mail Art Project for A LOTUS IN FLOWER - Art Festival 2005 

The Festival will take place throughout the British Isles next year between June 11 and June 24.  

It will be widely publicized nationwide. To participate please download the above graphic,

Nell\'ambito delle celebrazioni per il secondo centenario dell\'incoronazione dell\'immagine di Maria SS. della Lobra,

si invitano tutti gli artisti di mail art, che ne hanno interesse, a partecipare alla mostra sul tema "EMIGRAZIONE".
Invitiamo, per tanto, a spedirci :
1. Un\'opera che esprima la personale visione dell\'arte e rappresenti il Suo stile;
2. Informazioni sull\'opera realizzata;
3. Curriculum Vitae.
TECNICHE UTILIZZABILI: collage, assemblage, frottage, décollage, fotomontaggio, pittura, disegno, francobolli, cartoline d\'artista, fotografia.
DIMENSIONI: cartolina oppure (A4) Max 20 X 30 cm.
SCADENZA: Le opere devono giungere, entro e non oltre il 30 GIUGNO 2005, a cura e spese dei partecipanti, all\'organizzazione ai seguenti indirizzi:

MAIL ART PROJECT “FERMATA FACOLTATIVA”

L’Associazione Culturale Città Studi Milano, ha costituito nella propria sede il “CENTRO ESPOSIZIONE PERMANENTE MAIL ART”.Tale iniziativa è volta a diffondere  questa forma d’arte con l’allestimento di mostre e manifestazioni in un luogo di studio, di catalogazione ed archiviazione di tutte le opere fatte pervenire all’associazione dagli stessi artisti.

La vita dell’associazione  e del CENTRO può essere inoltre seguita tramite un sito di imminente presentazione; quest’ultimo è un ulteriore opportunità data agli artisti di presentare il proprio lavoro e le proprie esperienze artistiche condividendole con il vasto pubblico di Internet. Da questo presupposto è nato il progetto della mostra denominata “Fermata Facoltativa”, il cui intento lo si può dedurre  dal titolo stesso, in quanto vuole “fermare” queste opere viaggianti dando l’opportunità al visitatore di un contatto  reale. Le opere devono pervenire all’associazione a partire dal 29/04/2005, su tecnica e supporto libero, nella misura compresa tra il formato cartolina ed il  formato A4, con nota biografica e firma dell’autore, con titolo ed anno di esecuzione. L’artista  autorizza l’associazione alla pubblicazione dei suoi dati personali e dell’opera sul sito e su catalogo.

Le opere saranno esposte nell’ordine di ricevimento e salvo accordi particolari rimarranno a disposizione permanente del CENTRO.
