Mi è sembrato molto strano non avere trovato la recensione di nessun album dei Led Zeppelin, e francamente ne sono rimasto stupito. Mi sembra dunque doveroso parlare di uno dei gruppi che, assieme ai Deep Purple e Black Sabbath, sono le fondamenta dei vari generi che oggi ci ritroviamo ad ascoltare, Hard, Heavy, Prog, ecc. ecc.. Era il lontano marzo del 1969 quando gli Zeppelin irrompono come un fulmine a ciel sereno sulla scena musicale con il loro primo L.P. carico di un Hard-Blues psichedelico. Il disco si apre con la bellissima Good Times Bad Times pezzo ottimamente cadenzato, che ci da subito un assaggio della bravura dei quattro componenti, con assolo al fulmicotone di Page (tenete sempre presente che siamo nel 1969). Segue Babe I'm Gonna Leave You incantevole ballata, con un Plant capace di farci venire i brividi lungo la schiena, col suo modo struggente di interpretarla. You Shook Me è la prima delle due cover blues di Willie Dixon, l?altra è I Can't Quit You Baby, magistralmente suonate con Plant che canta come se avesse il fuoco in gola ed un Page che ci regala assoli da fare invidia ad altri grandi del genere. Il quarto pezzo è uno dei capolavori dei Led Zeppelin Dazed And Confused un hard-psichedelico impressionante, introdotto dal suono tenebroso del basso di Jones, il brano ci trasporta in un viaggio che ci lascia davvero sbalorditi e confusi, impossibile descrivere l'assolo di Page. Una bellissima intro d'organo ci proietta dentro Your Time Is Gonna Come quinto pezzo dell'album, canzone calma e rilassante quasi una ballata, sempre ottimamente suonata, dal ritornello molto orecchiabile che sfuma in Black Mountain Side dove Page da sfoggio della sua bravura con la chitarra classica, prima di ripartire con la veloce e accattivante Communication Breakdown, altro bellissimo classico degli Zeppelin, con Page lanciato nel solito assolo mozzafiato. Il disco si chiude con How Many More Times ultima perla di un bellissimo lavoro, dove Page, Plant, Bonham e Jones ci fanno sentire quanto cavolo siano bravi questi quattro fenomeni, è sempre un piacere ascoltarla, specie l'assolo di Page (ebbene si ho un vero e propri debole per lui o non si era capito?). Come ho già scritto, bisogna tenere conto quando parlo di assoli veloci o al fulmicotone che siamo nel 1969 e di roba del genere non se sentita minim.

In definitiva un capolavoro, assolutamente da avere, che lascia subito capire le potenzialità del gruppo che, nel novembre dello stesso anno, daranno vita al loro secondo capolavoro dove ci attende un altro stupendo viaggio sul dirigibile più famoso al mondo.
