hammerfallGli Hammerfall ci scrivono dalla Svezia per dirci che il metal classico non é morto (grazie), gode di ottima salute (meno male) e conta ancora sull’affetto dei milioni di “kids” sparsi in giro per l’Europa (prego).Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken ha un titolo che basta da solo a riempire una recensione ed un manifesto d’intenti.
Potente, monolitico, diretto al cuore della Storia.

Per i pochi di voi che avessero perso le puntate precedenti, avevamo lasciato il metal in mano ai Linkin Park e ad una saccente masnada di buontemponi di ogni dove che ripudiavano i riff ottantiani (un pó come quelli di Fury Of The Wild, Never Ever, Born To Rule ma con una produzione meno pregiata) a favore di strane elucubrazioni a sette corde che portavano la mente lontana dall’Impero e vicina al negozio sotto casa.Per farla breve: alla fine ci pensarono gli Hammerfall (aiutati dai Sentenced e gli Iced Earth) a rimettere il tutto al suo posto ed il Metallo tra i primi 100 della Classifica tedesca.Tutto qui? Piú o meno. Gli Hammerfall non avanzano di un solo passo, non evolvono e non si rigenerano neppure in seguito a cambi di line-up che avrebbero stordito dei Deep Purple qualunque. Ne consegue quindi che la musica é rimasta immutata e devota ad un sound che trova negli schemi ben collaudati del genere un viatico obbligato per confezionare comunque un gran bel disco.Chapter V é un male necessario, un piccolo evento che riporta alla mente tutta una serie di immagini stereotipate e un pó grottesche del metal in tutta la sua intransigenza e devozione ma che ne fanno, comunque, un genere a sé che sfugge a sterili denominazioni sociali e di costume.Gli Hammerfall sanno di poter contare su di una sorta di incolumitá dal ridicolo che gli permette di confezionare l’ennesimo CD splendido e sterile.Splendido perché tracce come l’opener Secrets o Blood Bound fanno ancora fluire l’adrenalina come ai vecchi tempi; sterile perché, come detto, é esattamente il prodotto che ci si aspetta dalla band di Joacim Cans e non regala sorprese neanche a cercarle.Quello che manca é l’ironia e se ne sente davvero la mancanza. Con titoli come Hammer Of Justice, The Templar Flame, Born To Rule e testi e grafica degni di tale calibro c’é poco da stare allegri e l’aspetto finale ne risente: ma se fosse ironico non sarebbe vero metal e se non fosse vero metal non sarebbero gli Hammerfall.
Con buona pace del progresso e di quei posers dei Linkin Park.
