Test 000-550: IBM solidDB and IBM solidDB Universal Cache
Test information:

  • Number of questions: 61
  • Time allowed in minutes: 90
  • Required passing score: 63%
  • Test languages: English

The test contains five sections totalling approximately 61 multiple-choice questions.  The percentages after each section title reflect the approximate distribution of the total question set across the sections.

Section 1 – Architecture (18%)

  1. Table Types (In-memory vs. on-disk Tables and Properties)
  2. Durability and Persistency Options
  3. Data Types
  4. Application Interfaces (JDBC, ODBC, SA)
  5. Server process, drivers, linking options, File System usage

Section 2 – Administration (15%)

  1. Startup / Shutdown
  2. solsql / solcon
  3. Backup / Recovery
  4. Data migration (solexp, solload, soldd)
  5. Version Migration

Section 3 – Installation and Configuration (15%)

  1. Standalone Setup and Config
  2. HSB Setup and Config
  3. Cache Setup and Config

Section 4 – Cache (15%)

  1. Read Only / Read Write Options
  2. Supported Topologies and Partitioning (Load partitioning and data partitioning)
  3. Data Mapping / Transformation Options

Section 5 – Performance (15%)

  1. Application Design Considerations (e.g. linked vs. not linked, cache on same machine as application)
  2. Database Design Considerations (e.g. database size and index size implications and on memory, configuration parameters)
  3. Performance Tuning (e.g. configuration parameters, table types, transaction logging options, linked vs. not linked)
  4. Cache Specific Performance Issues
  5. Workload Considerations

Section 6 – High Availability (11%)

  1. solidDB High Availability Architecture

Automatic Load Balancing setup and api attributes / configuration (Auto Load Balancing)
