Mykke Hofmann presented their Fall/Winter 2020 collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week. This was their fourth time showing in Copenhagen.
The collection is inspired by the concept of contrast and disharmony, reflected not only in a play with contrasting colors, but in a variety of opposites – femininity meets roughness, organic prints and shapes mingle with clean cuts and firm materials.
The title of the show was 208,800 minutes, which is the estimated working time for a Mykke Hofmann collection to be brought to life.
The brand made a clear statement, tackling the issue of ever increasing time-pressure on designers to execute their collections and the lack of appreciation for fashion design in general.
„We all know fast fashion has lead to a a misconception of what it takes to create a garment, especially in contemporary. Designers and their teams need to preach and raise awareness on the effort behind their product. We decided to have everyone helping backstage walk out after the show, as there are so many hands involved that usually don’t get the applause. That’s not fair!
