Lassù nella collina volavi su nel cielo

La mano di un bambino col filo ti cullava

E sempre più in alto seguivi  una canzone

Ballavi con il vento, tu eri un’aquilone

Le rondini lassù volavano cantando

E tu non rispondevi  nemmeno con il pianto

E quando il filo fuggi dalla sua mano

Andasti su nel cielo col  vento pian piano

Vedevi sù dal cielo il  mondo a te intorno

Sapevi che per te non c’era più ritorno

Lo sguardo del  bambino, ti seguiva  con amore

Tu salutasti tutti per andare verso il sole

La cima del monte non era più vicina

Tra lacrime di  pioggia cercavi il tuo bambino

Ma era tardi e tu dovevi andare via

Ti abbracciasti al cielo,  senza compagnia

Up there in the hill you flew above in the sky 
 
A child's hand with the thread cradled you 
 
And aloft you followed more and more a song 
 
You danced with the wind, you were a kite 
 
Up there The swallows flew singing 
 
And you didn't even respond with the weeping 
 
And when the thread you run away from his/her hand 
 
You went above to the sky with the wind plain pian 
 
You saw around sù from the sky the world to you 
 
You knew that for you there was no more return 
 
The look of his/her/their child, followed you with love 
 
You greeted all to go toward the sun 
 
The top of the mountain was not nearer 
 
Among tears of rain you looked for your child 
 
But it was late and you had to go away 
 
You embraced yourself to the sky, without company
