IRAN: Iranian President Hassan Rohani advocates dialogue with the West

 

Iran's new president was sworn Hassan Rohani Sunday before Parliament, vowing to abide by the Constitution and protect the official religion of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

With the formation of his government, the new president has appointed former Iranian ambassador to the UN, Mohammad Javad Zarif, as Foreign Minister. He also replaced at the head of the oil ministry, a key position in Iran, Bijan Zanganeh, who had held the position in a reformist government between 1997 and 2005.

The Majlis speaker said that Parliament, dominated by conservatives, consider the week nominations proposed by Hassan Rohani.

"We can not give the people of Iran by sanctions"

In his speech to Parliament, Hassan Rohani also stated to the attention of Western countries that the only solution was to use dialogue, not sanctions, with reference to restrictions unprecedented economic strangling the economy. 

"We can not give the Iranian people (on its nuclear rights) by the sanctions and threats of war, but the only way to interact with Iran dialogue on an e foot Galite, mutual respect, to reduce hostilities, "said Mr. Rohani, addressing the Western countries that have imposed last year of unprecedented economic sanctions that are strangling the economy.

The day before, at his inauguration, the Iranian president had promised to work for the lifting of sanctions "unfair" imposed on the country.

Comfortably elected in June to succeed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the new head of state raising hopes among Iranians who are waiting for a better life, more freedom and advanced es in the nuclear issue that plagues the relationship of the Islamic Republic with the West.
