È che del linguaggio, delle parole, ci fidiamo troppo, e al tempo stesso non diamo loro l'importanza che hanno. E che anzi nemmeno sappiamo cogliere. Persi come siamo nella convinzione che le parole indichino cose e concetti, non riusciamo a cogliere il modo nel quale quelle stesse parole colorano e ci presentano in una luce particolare le cose che incontriamo. È solo nella poesia che questo diviene evidente: ma anche allora, crediamo che la poesia esprima piuttosto un moto dell'animo, e non il fatto che è il modo nel quale le parole colorano le cose a suscitare uno stato emotivo.
